Dubai is one of the most important cities in the world today. Dubai is also regularly known as the Golden City, Festival City, and the Shopping Capital of the Middle East. Dubai has transformed dramatically since I moved there in 1994. When it comes to entertainment in Dubai, the city of Dubai could easily be compared to cities like New York, London, Paris, etc. In fact, you will find everything that these different cities have to offer in one hot place; you got it right - Dubai! See my list of the most important things to do in Dubai here Darik Elwan. Some of the points of interest in Dubai are Dubai's parks, shopping malls, nightlife and restaurants. The largest shopping mall in the Middle East, MOE (as the general public would call it) comprises about 2,400,000 square feet of retail space, playground, cinemas, art gallery and delicious cuisines from around the world. Its biggest claim Darik Elwan to fame is the indoor ski slope, Ski Dubai. Dubai Festival City, known as the World Class Waterfront Lifestyle Resort is another destination not to be missed. It includes shopping, restaurants, entertainment, homes, schools, hotels and offices in one place. This sub-zone of Dubai City offers a good microcosm of what Dubai's entertainment is all about!Spread along the Dubai creek, it gives a feel of the river walk in San Antonio (hey I am living in Texas at present!), only a much cleaner and nicer version. And then there is the ever-popular Dubai Gold Market or Souk. Souk translates into a traditional market in Arabic.
This souk which is set in the center of eastern Dubai's commercial business district, Deira practically has gold everywhere. There are narrow lanes (like the alleys in Manhattan, but less scary), streets and buildings full of gold and diamonds in this area and individuals from all over the world trade almost exclusively in jewelry Darik Elwan. The souk has a lot to provide like earrings, bracelets, pendants, rings, and necklaces. Just a fast fact- at any given time, over 25 tons of gold is showcased at the Gold Souk.Moving on to Dubai's night life, little did I know that there is so much in Dubai. After all, I was only seventeen when I moved out - not actually the partying age! Bars and clubs certainly stay open until 3 am and are located all across the city in big touristy hotels. The dress codes are typically relaxed and big name DJ's are quite popular in Dubai, inspite of the fact that some don't permit jeans, sandals, or trainers. Dubai nightlife is a big piece of the complete Dubai entertainment package.
